Hello,
We have shared today the blog with a couple of friends, and the ones using MCAfee mentioned the anti virus went crazy when opening the site, saying that that the site could be “potentially dangerous.”
Any help on how to get around that?
sorry, forgot to add my website: http://www.nomadsrtw.com
Hi, your website results clean by most of the security checks:
Anyway, SUCURI says that you DO have a BAD malaware in your server
Name of the threat: cuev.in
Please see:
https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/nomadsrtw.com/
The cause of this is, 99.9% of times, bad plugins (such as premium plugins downloaded from pirated websites) OR, regular free plugins also from the WP repository, ans they can be used to inject code.
Another alternative is that your server is insecure or you use very weak username or password such as “admin” username or similar.
A minimum of 10 characters including caps, number and symbols is recommended.
An insecure password requires about 1 minute to hack a website.Anyway whatever the cause can be, your website is potentially infected.
As this is not related with our theme, I can’t provide any more support on this.
I recommend to use dedicated plugins or contact an expert for a deeper check.

PS. after some more check it sounds a lot like a false positive.
Beware that some antivirus companies uses this method in order to “blackmail” website owners as you need to pay to inform McAfee that it was a false positive. If there isn’t such threat or you are sure that the dangerous file is not dangerous, conseder that it could be your case.
Is a bit like a paparazzi asking money to not publish fake pictures.
if you are very sure that your site is clean, that’s your case.
Then you can contact MCafee or completely ignore this. For any doubt about companies empolying such gangster methods, please consider which is the company using it, this is the owner:
alright thanks- I ran a pluggin to detect malware and looked like was all clean and good.
Thank you
