Hi Andrea,
My apologies if I’m asking a lot of questions. But, I’m preparing for our relaunch and I want to make sure I know how to properly use this theme.
Do I need to keep plugins that are apart of this theme activated if I’m not using them? Such as QT Love IT and QT Places?
If so, how do I remove the QT Love off of a page that it is showing up on. on my website?
Also, if I keep QT Love how do I have the social shares show up on the aritcles posts? Right now I only see it on pages. Thanks
Hello!
QT Love adds a love icons and counter to blog posts, team members, sponsors, testimonials, events, podcasts and videos. You can use it on pages only with default template page template.
Once deactivated, the love icon would be hidden but all the social shares would be still there.
If you don’t need it, you can get rid of it.
“Places” is a custom post type created by the QT Places plugin, which comes in bundle with the theme.
Places are basically “venues” and they can be associated to the events to create event maps. You can optionally create simple “places” maps to dispay any tipe of geolocated content.
If you don’t need it, you can turn it off.
Best regards,
PeeterHow do I turn on QT Love, on my blog posts? I don’t have it on my articles.
Hello,
1) check if the plugin is turned on
2) deactivate all the third party plugins
3) if present, delete cacheOnce done, check if the QT Love plugin is working now.
Best,
PeeterHi Peeter,
I just followed your instructions and deleted every third party plugin, I made sure the QT Love plugin was activated and turned on, and I also deleted cache and it still doesn’t appear on the POSTS. It still appears on pages if I set it as a default template. But, the social shares do not show on posts. Please advise what else I can do? Thx
Hello!
I’ve just checked your website source code and qt love plugins is properly installed. But as I can see there are different third-party plugins still active that could interfere with QT Love plugin:
– ninjateam-youtube-for-visual-composer-plugin/
– convertkit
– thrive-visual-editorSaid this I would be happy to check your website and see what’s going on.
Just send us a message including your credentials at team@themes2go.xyz and I will take care of your website.Keep me posted on this.
PeeterThank you! Yes I deleted all of the plugins to test your instructions and once I saw that it didn’t work, I reinstalled my plugins. Do you want me to delete the plugins again and then assign you to the backend? Or, just have you go in on the backend?
Hi Peeter,
I added you to my wordpress site as an administrator and emailed you the password.
I left all of the details in the email.
Thank you so much for your help!
Hello,
after checking your website source code I got what the issue comes from:
the code that adds the sharebar (including the love icon) to posts, podcast and videos was missing.Considering that you are using a child theme I assume that some intentionally deleted those code lines.
What I did, was just adding back the code and now you have the sharebar back to your posts, videos and podcast.
Hope this helps,
PeeterThank you for looking into that for me. I don’t have any clue how to delete code lines. So, it could have been the person that transfered my site over a few years ago.
I do have a question. Should I not be on the child theme? Is the other theme best?
Hi Peeter,
Can you let me know what code I need and where to place it to add the QT Love on my backend? I’m going to have to go back and reinstall my backup because I have some other pages that are not working and I think it’s because I deleted some of my plugins so there wouldn’t be any third party plugins on the backend. Once I reinstall my backup I need to add the source code back for QT Love. Can you please provide those instructions? Thank you for your help!
Hello!
We always recommend to use the child theme because it make easier to update your site with new theme versions without losing any customizations or settings.I’ve just found an article regarding it: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/wordpress-child-theme-pros-cons/
Regarding the QT Love code: I can suggest you an easy way to make it work again.
1. Make sure you are using the child theme
2. Go your ftp manager to this path: wp-content/themes/lifecoach
3. Copy these 3 files: single.php, single-qtvideo.php and single-podcast.php
4 Now go to this path: wp-content/themes/lifecoach-child
5. Paste the 3 files previously copied.
6. If necessary overwrite the old filesNow you should have the sharebar and love icon back to your pages.
Best,
PeeterThank you as this is very helpful! I’m deleting plugins that I’m not using so it won’t slow down my site.
I have a question about Category Custom Background. What is this for? Is it to put special pictures for the banners of a post or page? If I don’t want a picture it’s just generic text on top of a solid color background. Will I lose the solid color background option if I delete it?
Hello!
Category Custom Background add a custom header picture for a certain category of posts and not page.
You can add it from the Categories section. You will not lose the solid background if you delete it.
Best,
Peeter
