Hi,
Thanks for your patience and help with us making the most of the vlogger theme.
How do I enable people to select the original Vimeo buttons? ie Closed Captions, Share Video, etc. There appears to be some sort of mask, created by the tutorial template, that blocks people from selecting the original Video player options, such as Closed Captions and so on. It only allows users to select volume, full screen or play/pause. You can see the original buttons, but are unable to actually select them.
I’d really appreciate a way of enabling these original buttons to be clickable, especially the Closed Captions: some of our users struggle to hear, or to understand English, and really value using the Closed Captions we spend time accurately creating for them, but they can’t click the button, while watching a video on our website.
We then have to, manually, provide a link for them to go off to our Vimeo or YouTube channels. We’d much prefer they remain on our site.
Hope this makes sense – what can I do?
Also, I like to give back when I can and I’ve found a solid work around to the issue of us switching to a newer URL for a video, and WordPress bringing up error messages – due to a conflict with wordpress not refreshing the URL, as you explain in your instruction manual.
What I’ve found is that when you delete the old URL for the video you want to update, you then need to also switch to the TEXT editor first (before adding the new video URL).
There is actually a fragment of code, not visible in the visual editor (or BACKEND EDITOR), that needs deleting before adding the new video URL.
Once this has been deleted, switch back to the visual editor, and paste in your new video URL at the top as before.
This works for us every time.

Hello Andy and thanks for your message.
Our custom video player it’s deeply integrated with the theme and give the chance to switch to another player it’s not possible without writing again the code of the theme.
Currently we do not have any video player updates on our product roadmap so what I could suggest you is hiring a developer on codeable.io or Fiverr.com and ask the theme customization just for you.
Regarding your “technique” of switching video url on existing posts, which is the fragment of code you are mentioning?
Thanks,
Andreaok. that’s a shame. i understand, but it’s still a shame. stuff like sharing/download is such an intrinsically critical feature to have blocked.
regarding the URL code fragment: you stated that you need to recreate a post if you ever wish to change the URL for the video displayed on your instruction manual because WordPress doesn’t let the URL get refreshed.
but, when you delete the old URL, you’d usually be in either the backend editor or visual editor. that makes sense.
but, once you’ve deleted that old URL, there is a fragment of code left, that you can only see – and then delete – in the text editor. this fragment code actually contains the old URL. so you renew the URL, but there is code, higher up the page (so to speak) that still contains the old URL)
so, in effect, you delete the old URL you can see, but the old URL is still there – it’s just hidden unless you check via the text editor
create a post with a URL. delete the URL. then look in the text editor – you’ll see what I mean
